Exodus 20:1-6 then God spoke all these words saying I am the LORD your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery you shall have no other gods before Me you shall not make for yourself an idol or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth you shall not worship them or serve them for I the LORD your God am a jealous God visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me but showing loving kindness to thousands to those who love Me and keep My commandments today is Shavuot and Shavuot is like a celebrated day it’s like a Shabbat like a Sabbath so we could say Shabbat Shalom because of Shavuot Shavuot is also known as the day of Pentecost what’s interesting is the day of Pentecost and the day of Shavuot are the same day and so we celebrate two things on Shavuot we celebrate the giving of the law or the ten Commandments as we commonly call it actually these are the ten teachings they’re not so much commandments as these are life’s instruction book if you follow these things life will go well and you will prosper if you violate these things you’re going to cause yourself and others around you a whole lot of problems this is the giving of the word of God that came through Moses and then it’s also the day that the Holy Spirit came upon the new believers those who were believing in Yeshua after His resurrection that we find in Acts 2 the Holy Spirit was poured out upon them and tongues of fire appeared upon them they spoke with new tongues there was an empowerment of the Holy Spirit for ministry we chose to call this daily devotional Daily Spirit and Truth and really Shavuot is the celebration of both the Spirit who came on the the day of Pentecost and truth that came on the day of Shavuot even though they were separated by a couple thousand years in time but in our lives we need to receive spirit and truth one guy said it this way if you just have the Spirit you blow up if you just have the truth you dry up but if you have spirit and truth you grow up and that’s the goal is that we would grow in God’s supernatural power but also in the foundation of His word understanding why God gave Torah through Moses that we might understand Torah a lot of Christians misunderstand the purpose of Torah which really is better translated rather than the law a much better translation is the teaching or the instructions of God I perceive Torah like an owner’s manual that you receive with your automobile a lot of people don’t read it but do you have to follow the owner’s manual or you’re an evil person no but if you don’t follow the owner’s manual you may destroy your car same thing is true about the Bible about Torah, about the word what it means is these are the instructions of God that cause life to go well if you go with it life works a lot better if you violate the instructions and the things that are in the owner’s manual it causes you a lot of problems on the other hand when we’re looking at the spirit we want to learn how to move in God’s supernatural we need a new outpouring of the Holy Spirit today is the day we’re celebrating an outpouring of the Holy Spirit so the question today is is there an area of my life where I have violated basic principles in the word and it would be good for me to repent and restore in my life the basic principles from the word of God, the truth on the other hand have I been filled with the Holy Spirit do I know what it is to walk a naturally supernatural life expecting God to do miracles everyday expecting miracles to flow through my mouth through my hands that when I speak to people when I pray for people that miracles will flow forth on this day of Pentecost or Shavuot that we’re celebrating today I just want to pray for you that a new empowering of the Holy Spirit would come upon you if you’ve never been filled or as some people call it baptized with the Holy Spirit I’d like to pray that for you right now that the Holy Spirit would descend upon you in the same way that He did upon the new believers in the book of Acts to empower them for ministry with miracles and signs and wonders flowing if that’s something you’d like to receive if you’ve already prayed for that and that has been an experience either one time or on going experience in your life I just want to reaffirm that if that’s something you’ve never prayed for then would you just pray and ask God today with me God baptize me in your Holy Spirit fill me with your Holy Spirit I want your Spirit to infuse my entire life if you’d like that let’s just pray this together Father God thank you for spirit and truth Father thank you for Your word thank you for Your Spirit and you can just speak these words Father would you fill me with your Holy Spirit baptize me in your Holy Spirit infuse your Holy Spirit in me Father I want to see miracles flowing through my life today I’m asking you in the name of Messiah Jesus Yeshua Ha Mashiach fill me Holy spirit this day Amen
