Jeremiah 31:31-34 behold, days are coming declares the LORD when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah not like the covenant which I made with their fathers in the day I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt My covenant which they broke although I was a husband to them declares the LORD but this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days declares the LORD I will put My law within them and on their heart I will write it and I will be their God and they shall be My people they will not teach again each man his neighbor and each man his brother, saying know the LORD for they will all know Me from the least of them to the greatest of them declares the LORD for I will forgive their iniquity and their sin I will remember no more that is one of the most awesome promises in the whole Bible it says to the house of Israel to the house of Judah that Yahweh the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob will make a new covenant with the house of Israel with the house of Judah and it will not be like the past covenant which was made with their fathers but He will forgive their iniquity He will put His law in their hearts what an awesome awesome promise I got to thinking about this this promise of a new covenant which is written about here in Jeremiah 31 and fulfilled of course in what we call the New Testament in Yeshua Ha Mashiach Jesus the Messiah it was given to the house of Israel and the house of Judah one day I was thinking how did I get in this thing because I’m not from the house of Israel I’m not from the house of Judah how did I get in it my ancestry is primarily Norwegian my father is 100% Norwegian my mother’s ancestry is mixed European, German, French a few other things mixed in I’m not from the house of Israel or the house of Judah how did I get into this you know what God showed me because this covenant was for the house of Israel the new covenant the house of Israel the house of Judah not for Gentile people how did I get into this I realized when I read Romans 11 especially verse 17 Paul said we who were not originally from the house of Israel or the house of Judah were grafted in to their covenant what that means is he uses the imagery of an olive tree that we were wild branches grafted in to the natural olive tree Israel and Judah and that’s how we came in to these promises this promise of this new covenant is by the blood of Yeshua Ha Mashiach I like to use the name Yeshua a lot of times I know many people are not familiar with that many times we use the name Jesus Jesus or Yeshua was a Hebrew He was an Israelite and I like wherever possible to use somebody’s original name from their language for example I may know somebody born in a Spanish speaking country whose name is Miguel if He comes to the United States He might be called Mike or people might call him Mike or Mikey if it’s at all pronouncable I’d rather call him Miguel that’s the name his parents gave him and that’s why I use the name Yeshua a lot because that’s the name His parents gave Him it’s a Hebrew name and so wherever possible I like to use that name but regarding this awesome covenant that we’ve been grafted in to that was made with the house of Israel the house of Judah if you have received Jesus the Messiah Yeshua Ha Mashiach as your savior, as your deliverer if you’ve entered into the covenant that He made by His blood you’ve been grafted into this awesome covenant where all your iniquities all your sins are forgiven and where it says God said I will write my law my ways my ancient paths in your heart and you will walk in those naturally because you’ll know in your heart that is the awesome covenant promise that God has given to us I’m just so excited to think we have been grafted in to this covenant that was made with Israel and Judah the unfortunate part is that many people have basically sort of kicked Israel and Judah out of the covenant and acted like the covenant was made with Gentiles and it wasn’t it was made with the house of Israel and the house of Judah we’re the guests we the gentiles are the guests in that covenant and yet many times we’ve treated Jewish people as though they don’t belong they’re the ones that are outside and the truth is we’ve been grafted in to their covenant and that’s why I think it’s critical to understand the Hebraic roots of our olive tree that we’re grafted into to honor the hosts who have invited us into their covenant that’s just an awesome awesome thing I wanted to share with you today as you go through your life today remember you’re grated in to an incredible covenant made by the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob with the house of Israel with the house of Judah where by your sins are forgiven you’re iniquities are eradicated and you get to walk in intimate fellowship and relationship with the living God just do that today seek Him with all your heart love God, bless people and you will make a difference
