Deuteronomy 32:44-47 then Moses came and spoke all the words of this song in the hearing of the people he with Joshua the son of Nun when Moses had finished speaking all these words to all Israel he said to them take to your heart all the words with which I am warning you today which you shall command your sons to observe carefully even all the words of this law for it is not an idle word for you indeed it is your life and by this word you will prolong your days in the land which you are about to cross the Jordan to possess Shabbat Shalom well today we’re celebrating Shabbat again and this word is talking about Torah talking about the word of God do you know that word of God will renew your mind if you meditate on it and Moses said it is life to you this word is life to you many times Jewish people loved the word of God in a way that others do not and I encourage you to love the word of God but there’s two things that are very important for you to know first of all fulfilling all the commandments in the word of God will not make you righteous or in right standing before God and here’s the reason why nobody can do it only one in all of history has fulfilled all the commandments only one in history has been 100% Torah observant His name is Jesus Yeshua the Messiah and we’re fortunately grafted into covenant with Him so the purpose of the word is not for you to fulfill it the purpose of the word is for you to walk in the principles of it the second thing you need to know is we don’t just abandon the word of God because we know we can’t fulfill it no we understand this book is full of principles just like an owner’s manual it’s like when you buy a car or a television they usually give you an owner’s manual it tells you how to service your equipment it tells you for example with a car when to change the oil when to service various parts and it doesn’t make you righteous before God if you do all those things your car will last a lot longer if you follow the instructions in the manual your life will last a lot longer if you follow the instructions in the manual and so that’s what Moses said that by this word you will prolong your days in the land which the Lord your God gives you so there are principles that are critical for us to understand one that comes to my mind is meekness that’s the principle of only using a percentage of available capacity having margins in your life and God told the Israel people in Torah you don’t get to use 100% of your money 10% of it you set aside and dedicate it it belongs to me you don’t get to use 100% of your time 1 day in 7 is Shabbat you set it aside as a day of rest you don’t get to have sexual relation with anything and anybody and everybody like people want to do in our day no sexual relationship I command you to confine within the context of covenant marriage and I command you to not eat certain kinds of food because they’re bad for you they’ll harm and destroy your immune system and so it doesn’t make you righteous per se to do those things but you’ll live a lot longer if you’ll understand the principles if you’ll love the word of God let it renew your mind walk in those principles you will live long and you will prosper and be blessed in the land which the LORD your God has given you so today again love God’s word have a great Shabbat have a great rest a time of time set aside and dedicated to the LORD and to your family be blessed this day Love God bless people around you you’ll make a difference
