John 1:4-13 in Him was life and the life was the Light of men the Light shines in the darkness and the darkness did not comprehend it there came a man sent from God whose name was John he came as a witness to testify about the Light so that all might believe through him he was not the Light but he came to testify about the Light there was the true Light which, coming into the world enlightens every man He was in the world and the world was made through Him and the world did not know Him He came to His own and those who were His own did not receive Him but as many as received Him He gave them the right to become children of God even to those who believe in His name who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God Yeshua Ha Mashiach Jesus the Messiah is the light of the world and today Jewish people all around the world are celebrating one of the days of the festival of lights that’s called Hanukkah and Yeshua, Jesus the Messiah is the fulfillment of that light the celebration of Hanukkah I want to share with you a little bit about Hanukkah what is that festival Yeshua celebrated it it’s something He celebrated every year the festival of lights where did it come from many people actually don’t know the story and let me share with you it was a very dark time in Israel Israel had been overrun by Heathen nations and specifically this is around the time 165, 166, 167 B.C the Greeks had overrun Jerusalem and there was a very evil ruler called Antiochus Epiphanes and he had actually conquered Jerusalem gone to the Hebrew temple in Jerusalem slaughtered a pig which was a defiling animal and spread pig’s blood all over the altar in the temple in Jerusalem finally there rose up a family that were actually called the Maccabees Ha Macabim means the Hammer actually in Hebrew so there was a father who began a rebellion against the Greeks He had 5 sons the most famous one was Judah Maccabee Judah Ha-Makabi Judah the hammer and there was a rebellion that rose up against the Greeks in 165 BC they recaptured the city against all odds I mean it was just a phenomenal thing where the spirit of God was there they had no chance and yet they conquered the Greeks and liberated the city went back into the temple and in the temple there was just enough oil for 1 day and tradition has it that they lit the candle that should have only lasted for one day or the oil candle and it supernaturally multiplied and lasted for 8 days and today that’s what Hanukkah is is the celebration of the liberation of the temple in Jerusalem and the supernatural outpouring of oil which would be today typified by the Holy spirit that lasts for 8 days instead of just one day and so we can celebrate the feast of lights the festival of lights ourselves as Jewish people are all around the world the one thing that is really good about it is Hanukkah lasts for 8 days eight days of light eight days of celebrating the light that came into the world that we just read about Yeshua Jesus the light of the world this is a great day to celebrate the festival of Hanukkah celebrate the light that came into the world and to pray for the light of Yeshua to spread throughout all your family members to spread throughout your environment to celebrate today that Yeshua is the light He is the one that even as He celebrated the festival of lights we celebrate today that He is the light and I just wanted to share that with you in our family we love to celebrate Hanukkah around this time as well many scholars believe that Hanukkah in December it’s usually in December is probably actually the time that Yeshua was conceived and he was actually probably born in the time of the feast of Tabernacles nobody knows for sure of course we have an appointed day to celebrate His birth that the whole world uses in December 25th but we could celebrate Yeshua being the light of the world along with Jewish people being grafted in to that Jewish olive tree let’s celebrate with Jewish people around the world the festival of lights and let’s share with as many Jewish people as we can that Yeshua has come and He is the light of the world His name means salvation He is the one who has come to being salvation to Jews and Gentiles all around the world so Father today we celebrate the festival of lights we celebrate the fact that Yeshua is the light and Father I pray that you’d use everyone of us to bring Yeshua the light of the world to everybody we know Amen
