Exodus 12:23-27 for the LORD will pass through to smite the Egyptians and when He sees the blood on the lintel and on the two doorposts the LORD will pass over the door and will not allow the destroyer to come in to your houses to smite you and you shall observe this event as an ordinance for you and your children forever when you enter the land which the LORD will give you as He has promised you shall observe this rite and when your children say to you what does this rite mean to you? you shall say it is a Passover sacrifice to the LORD who passed over the houses of the sons of Israel in Egypt when He smote the Egyptians but spared our homes and the people bowed low and worshiped Shabbat Shalom today again on Shabbat remember this is an island in time when you get to let go of emotional pressure when you get to just come before Yahweh and say today for this 24 hours I release and relinquish all the pressures of life that is awesome that we get to celebrate a day like that of rest and refreshing and remind us of deliverance from Egypt what I want to talk about today is that Yahweh told Israel to celebrate this feast we call it a feast it’s actually the Hebrew word, moed moed just means appointment this appointment of Passover was to be celebrated forever we are grafted in to this covenant by the blood of Yeshua why did Yahweh say to celebrate this? it’s to remind Israel of the former bondage and the deliverance that they experienced through Passover and everyone of us have had bondage in our own lives in the past and Passover is a time of year that reminds us of deliverance from our Egypt but of course Passover is the primary appointment that celebrates and was the foreshadowing of the coming of Messiah shedding His blood and that being poured out at the eternal tabernacle of God Almghty so Passover is an exciting time Yahweh told Israel to celebrate it forever we’re grafted into that covenant I don’t think that it’s a bad thing for us as believers many of us from a gentile background grafted into this covenant to celebrate Passover I love to celebrate the seven moedim the seven times that are talked about in Leviticus chapter 23 there were seven appointments that Yahweh says, God says I will keep these appointments these are anointed times when I love to meet with people and I’m going to show up at that time I love to celebrate and worship at that time too and so Passover is a wonderful time to celebrate if you have never celebrated a messianic Passover I encourage you to do that there are Messianic congregations that are all over the world these days and if you’ve never celebrated Passover with one of them I encourage you to learn to do that to celebrate Passover even in your own family the Passover is the foreshadowing of the blood of Jesus Messiah being shed to forgive us for our sins and to deliver us out of our Egypt the imagery here again is the blood that was put on the door was not to keep God out the blood was to invite God in because the common custom of the day was, when a King would come to the land he would look for the blood poured out at the threshold of the door inviting him to step across and enter into covenant where he saw that blood either he or his emissary would enter across declare the terms of the Kingdom declare, I will be your King and you will be my people and he would send his army in to every home where no blood was poured out to eradicate the enemies of his Kingdom from the land and this is the very imagery used in Passover where Yahweh tells Israel pour out the blood I will recognize that you’re loyal when I come I will pass over which doesn’t mean skip over the house it means to pass over or covenant cross the threshold of that house go in and declare the terms of the Kingdom and lead that family out of bondage and that’s exactly the Passover that’s the imagery that’s used there this is one of the seven critical moedim that word moedim means appointments appointed times so Passover is an appointed time when God Himself has said I love to come and be with my people at that time to celebrate and of course it occurs the fulfillment of that was the blood of Yeshua and so as we celebrate Passover I encourage you to make a plan to celebrate Passover this year in a Messianic way to celebrate a Messianic Passover by the blood of Yeshua if you’ve never attended a Passover Seder again I encourage you why don’t you do that this year if you don’t know how to do that just search around look on the internet there’s all kinds of instructions there are Messianic congregations almost everywhere that can help you learn how to celebrate a Messianic Passover celebrating the true blood of Messiah so that we can enter into this where Yahweh said in verse 24 and you shall observe this event as an ordinance for you and your children forever and this is an exciting time to celebrate what Jesus has done His blood being shed for us as the lamb of God at the time of Passover so again enjoy your Shabbat today have a time of rest and refreshing bring to remembrance the deliverance from your own Egypt and God bless you
