What Exactly Did the Blood of Yeshua Do?
Transcript
Romans 5:10-11 for if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son much more having been reconciled we shall be saved by His life and not only this but we also exult in God through our Lord Jesus Christ through whom we have now received the reconciliation I want to talk today about the blood of Yeshua what did Messiah do when He died shed His blood rose from the dead it’s a very interesting thing because we have a doctrine that is taught in seminaries and has been for ever and ever called the doctrine of the atonement of the blood of Jesus the Messiah and you know what’s very interesting is that word atone or atonement is not used in the New Testament atonement is actually not a New Testament concept now before you go and call me a heretic hear me out I think there’s something so powerful here to understand really the concept to atone or atonement is an old Testament concept now the reason I chose this verse Ephesians 5:10-11 there’s only one time in the King James Bible that the word Atonement is used at all and it’s here in Ephesians 5:11 it says we have now received the atonement or I am reading New American Standard today it says the reconciliation the Greek word is the word katallage and katallage really doesn’t mean atonement here it’s translated reconciliation but you know an even better translation exchange katallage is talking about an exchange so let me contrast the old testament concept of atone or atonement with the new testament concept of exchange or reconciliation so we have of course in Torah in the books of Moses we have Yom Kippur the day of atonement we have that word Kippur which is a noun that means atonement or the Hebrew word the verb is kafar do you know what kafar actually means it’s a roofing term that was used when you build a roof you cover it with pitch so kafar means to cover as with pitch or tar or today we might use tar paper so to cover something you create a covering over something that is kafar or Jewish people today wear a kippah or a Yarmulke in Yiddish kippah in Hebrew what does it mean, a covering so the concept in old covenant is that sin was covered by the blood of bulls and goats and animals in the temple the New Testament concept has nothing to do with covering in the old testament the sin in essence was covered but not eradicated what’s happened in the new covenant what the blood of Yeshua has done this is so exciting if you can get this what the blood of Yeshua has done is not covered sin blasted it out of your spirit eradicated the sin an exchange has taken place what that means is in your spirit the sin was eradicated taken out and exchanged with the righteousness of Messiah so you receive His righteousness and He receives your sin that’s why the word katallage in Greek is used which means an exchange so it’s not a covering sometimes I’ve said this the blood of Yeshua did not atone for sin and people say what are you talking about and what I’m saying is it did much much more than atone it didn’t just cover the blood of Yeshua actually exchanged and He took 100% of the sin out of your spirit and replaced it with 100% of His righteousness that is so exciting I believe honestly for centuries theologians have used the wrong terminology not atonement but an exchange where there has been a total exchange in your spirit now of course God created us 3 part beings spirit, soul and body so your soul is in the process of being transformed your spirit has received already the exchange a divine exchange the Greek word katallage and so we could read this and not only this in verse 11 but we also exult in God through our LORD Jesus Christ through whom we have now received the divine exchange so a total exchange you’ve been born again you’ve been made a new creation the body of sin has been done away with he who has joined himself to the LORD is one spirit with Him so this is so exciting it means that the righteousness of Yeshua Messiah Himself abides on the inside of you in your spirit it’s something you can identify with so what has the blood of Messiah accomplished? a divine exchange so today is a day to identify with the righteousness of Messiah in your spirit yes you’re flesh might rise up and capture your emotions capture your mind maybe you’ll do something foolish or do something unwise but you know what it does not change who you are you are still a righteous man or a righteous woman because of what the blood of Messiah has done because of the divine exchange so I’d just like to pray for you today Father I pray for each person listening, watching this today for a revelation of what the blood of Messiah has actually done a divine exchange that has removed the sin from my spirit and replaced the… exchanged it with the righteousness of Jesus Messiah and Father I pray we would get a revelation today that we are 100% righteous in you that’s the truth of who I am Lord let us declare it let us receive it and walk in the righteousness that you have created and infused within our spirit this day I thank you for it in the mighty name of Yeshua Amen
