Psalm 55:12-18 for it is not an enemy who reproaches me then I could bear it nor is it one who hates me who has exalted himself against me then I could hide myself from him but it is you, a man my equal my companion and my familiar friend we who had sweet fellowship together walked in the house of God in the throng let death come deceitfully upon them let them go down alive to Sheol for evil is in their dwelling, in their midst as for me, I shall call upon God and the LORD will save me evening and morning and at noon I will complain and murmur and He will hear my voice He will redeem my soul in peace from the battle which is against me for they are many who strive with me have you ever been betrayed in the house of the Lord it’s one thing to be betrayed by enemies by people that hate you but to be betrayed by a brother to be betrayed by a pastor to be betrayed by somebody that you trusted somebody that you loved that’s hard to take that is exactly what happened to David what Psalm 55 is actually talking about is the betrayal of David’s best friend a man named Ahithophel Ahithophel was David’s counselor for years and years he was with David for many many years David’s best friend and when Absalom rose up in insurrection to try to take the kingdom away from David to drive David out of the land Ahithophel changed sides went with Absalom and David is crying out here about this situation and He’s saying in verse 12 it’s not an enemy but it’s my best friend Ahithophel how could you do this to me and you know a thing that we’ll look at a little bit later but I’ll just mention now here’s an interesting fact Ahithophel was Bathsheba’s grandfather remember what David did to Bathsheba committed adultery with her killed her husband and took her as his own wife something was in Ahithophel’s heart that he held for years and years and at the opportune moment Ahithophel betrayed David turned against him here’s the critical thing that we need to see in Psalm 55 we’ll all experience betrayal and sometimes it will be at the hand of a friend a family member somebody close to us how do you respond to that what do you do in the end when somebody betrays you you only have one of two choices you can either continue in your heart to blame that person and insist that they pay for their sin and betrayal against you or you can let the blood of Messiah Yeshua Jesus be enough to pay for what that person did do you know that Yeshua died to pay for the sin of the one who betrayed you and your choice is to either receive what Yeshua did as enough to pay for that person or to reject the blood of Yeshua and say no, your blood is not enough I’m going to continue to hold that person accountable for what they did they have to pay David didn’t do that David was wise David made a choice to forgive Ahithophel and it resulted in the kingdom in Absalom being defeated and the kingdom being restored to David God will do that same thing for you I just sense such a strong anointing right now that there is someone watching and you’ve been betrayed by a spouse and it’s devastated your heart devastated your heart I just want to pray for you Father I pray for that one that has been betrayed by a spouse that the blood of Yeshua really would be enough to forgive Father I pray that you’d touch the depths of the heart and heal heal that deep sense of betrayal that deep wound on the inside I release the blood of Yeshua right now to be enough to pay for that sin would you receive the blood of Yeshua and let Him pay for what was done to you the betrayal, the lies, the deception God will heal and restore in a miraculous miraculous way all of us have been betrayed I’ve had times when I’ve been betrayed when people have blamed me for things that were not my fault and I had a choice to forgive and allow the blood of Yeshua to be enough or to hold that person accountable and sometimes it’s difficult it’s not easy but I’ll tell you if you will make the choice to forgive even those that are close to you that have betrayed you God will restore to you more than what was taken more than what was destroyed through the betrayal of that one that was close to you I just encourage you to do that to re read this psalm you can see David’s response he said I will call upon God and the Lord will save me he wasn’t looking for man to save him he wasn’t even looking for Ahithophel to repent he said I’m trusting in God God will be my source and God will do that same thing for you so today if you’ve experienced a betrayal or you know someone who has you can shoot them this little devotional let them hear this because God wants to heal and restore your heart so Father I pray that for every person watching today that you would restore and heal our hearts from the betrayals especially of those close to us in the name of Yeshua Amen
