Esther 9:23-28

Stand with the Jewish People

Esther 9:23-28 thus the Jews undertook what they had started to do and what Mordecai had written to them for Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite the adversary of all the Jews had schemed against the Jews to destroy them and had cast pur that is the lot to disturb them and destroy them but when it came to the King’s attention he commanded by letter that his wicked scheme which he had devised against the Jews should return on his own head and that he and his sons should be hanged on the gallows therefore they called these days Purim after the name of Pur and because of the instructions in this letter both what they had seen in this regard and what had happened to them the Jews established and made a custom for themselves and for their descendants and for all those who allied themselves with them so that they would not fail to celebrate these two days according to their regulation and according to their appointed time annually so these days were to be remembered and celebrated throughout every generation every family every province and every city and these days of Purim were not to fail from among the Jews or their memory fade from their descendants Chag Sameach again that means Happy Holiday in Hebrew today is the second day of Purim and as we just read Purim means lots or casting lots why is the holiday called lots or Purim because Haman cast lots to determine the day on which he was going to exterminate all the Jews in the land you know there was an antisemitic spirit in that day throughout and there has been throughout all of history that wants to exterminate and destroy God’s people the Jewish people do you know that spirit is alive and well today and the reason I’m saying that is we need to stand against that we need to resist that and we need to understand that God has chosen Jewish people to accomplish a particular purpose in the land God made a covenant with the house of Abraham God made a covenant with the house of Judah with the house of Israel and most of us are not part of the house of Judah or the house of Israel but we’re grafted into the covenant that God made with them by the blood of Jesus the Messiah Yeshua Ha Mashiach and so we are united with Jewish people inextricably connected because we’re grafted into their covenant and God has called us to stand with them Gentile believers grafted into the covenant to stand with Jewish people I like to celebrate Purim myself I mean one of the reasons is it’s a great feast we get to have food not that food is everything but food is good fellowship with one another is great we need to stand against this antisemitic spirit and I believe as we get closer and closer to the return of the LORD we’re going to see more and more antisemitism rise up and more and more of that Haman type of spirit people that want to destroy Jews for this reason that reason as believers we want to stand with our natural born brothers and sisters of Judah those Jewish people just as God delivered He delivered the Jewish people in Haman’s day through Esther God will raise up modern day Esther’s today in ancient Persia Haman wanted to destroy the Jews and there will be people that want to destroy the Jews in our day and we want to stand with Jewish people we want to stand up for the name of the LORD and be counted and stand with them and the other thing that I want to say is if there are enemies that you have injustice being perpetrated against you God is for you and the message of Purim is God will do for you exactly what he did for His people in ancient Babylon and Esther will be raised up a deliver will be raised up and God will fight against injustice that’s His nature God is the God of justice and you can expect that it may not happen in your timing may not happen as quickly as you like but I want to tell you God will always deal with injustice and that is a wonderful thing to know so stand against that antisemitic spirit stand with God’s people expect God to deal with injustice and the Hamans in your life will be eliminated just as they were in ancient Babylon in the days of Esther so today as you go through your life love God with all your heart bless the people around you and make a difference
