Exodus 36:3-7 they received from Moses all the contributions which the sons of Israel had brought to perform the work in the construction of the sanctuary and they still continued bringing to him freewill offerings every morning and all the skillful men who were performing all the work of the sanctuary came each from the work which he was performing and they said to Moses the people are bringing much more than enough for the construction work which the LORD commanded us to perform so Moses issued a command and a proclamation was circulated throughout the camp, saying let no man or woman any longer perform work for the contributions of the sanctuary thus the people were restrained from bringing any more for the material they had was sufficient and more than enough for all the work to perform it. Shabbat Shalom this is an incredible passage when was the last time a congregational leader stood in your congregation and said the offerings are too many take some back don’t bring anymore we can’t use it all that’s exactly what happened here in ancient Israel when they were building a structure and Moses used offerings it’s interesting they didn’t use tithe they didn’t touch the tithe to build the building they used offerings people brought so much they couldn’t use it all they had to give it back why doesn’t that ever happen today how come that wouldn’t be possible why couldn’t we do the same to build buildings today in our congregations why couldn’t we use the same model of receiving offerings from the people that attend the congregation and have more than enough and have to tell people it’s too much I was meditating on that how come that pattern doesn’t work today because it’s true it doesn’t and the answer is very simple there’s a huge difference between where most people are in their finances today and where the people of Israel were at that time here’s the difference at that time everybody was 100% in control of their own finances they had no debt they were not slaves to anyone what they had they were able to designate and use for whatever they wanted to they weren’t slaves to creditors today almost everybody is a slave to creditors the Bible tells us in Proverbs 22:7 the borrower is a slave to the lender and the rich rules over the poor when we borrow money we choose to become slaves I was in debt for a long time in my adult life God gave us a revelation in year 2000 to eliminate all our debt including the mortgage on our house and it took 3 years we took natural steps God did supernatural steps by the end of 2003 we had no more debt never had debt again never will have debt again but it used to grieve me so much when the Lord would touch my heart regarding a missions project something I really wanted to give to something that God was touching my heart to give to and I couldn’t because all of my monthly cash flow was already dedicated to pay my bills to pay my creditors to the mortgage company the car finance company that sort of thing I never did carry credit card debt fortunately I knew that it would grieve me that even if Yeshua Himself came and stood before me personally and said please get involved with me in this project I couldn’t because I wasn’t in control of my own resources and I believe that’s the problem that we have today we can’t build a building with the offerings that come from people in the congregation because they’re not in control of their own money they have chosen to allocate most of their cash flow to creditors and they’re not able to use their money the way they want these people were able to use money accordingly as God touched their hearts I believe God wants to restore that to us I believe it’s a cultural deception that debt is a necessity I meet people all the time that believe I couldn’t have a car if I didn’t borrow money I couldn’t have a house if I didn’t borrow money I know that’s a lie because I have a house and I don’t have a mortgage on it my oldest son has a house he didn’t go to a bank and borrow money my youngest son will buy a house in the next couple of years he won’t go to a bank and borrow money and people say how is that possible? I’ll tell you it’s possible because God gave us a vision to break the cultural deception that debt is a necessity I don’t believe that anymore I refuse to walk in it and I encourage you to dig your heels in make a decision to eliminate your debt and say God I don’t know how we’re going to do it but we want to come into that place where we have no debt where we’re not a slave to anyone Father show us how and if you’re in debt today I want to pray for you that God will give you a plan and as you do the natural He will do the supernatural and accelerate it that’s what happened for us when I ran out the numbers on an excel spreadsheet it looked like it would take 10 years for us to pay off our house mortgage it took 3 years how is that possible we took natural steps God took supernatural steps and I believe He is not a respecter of persons what He did for us He will also do for you so let me just pray to eliminate debt would you receive this by faith that God will give you a plan and if you’re not in debt rejoice with me but pray for others and help deliver other people from the bondage and slavery of debt Father I pray for every person watching today God that we would walk in spirit and truth that as on the truth side we’d do natural things and follow a natural plan that God on the spirit side you will do supernatural things I pray for every person today that you would deliver each one who’s still in the bondage of debt from that debt and God I pray that you’d give every husband and Father every mother and wife every single person your plan to eliminate debt Father and that you would supernaturally undertake on their behalf that we might be a congregation like was in ancient Israel in control over our own finances where we can use the resources you’ve put in our hands as directed by your Holy Spirit not as directed by bankers and finance companies and mortgage companies and creditors Father I pray that we would break this cultural deception and bondage and slavery to debt and that you would free us in the mighty name of Yeshua Ha Mashiach Jesus the Messiah Amen
