like father like son

Did you know that there is a big difference between sin and iniquity?  Sin is something that is open; everyone can see it, understand it and recognize it.  Iniquity, on the other hand is hidden, an unseen force that drives a person to sin.
In Exodus 20:5, the bible says this, “You shall not bow to them, nor serve then, for I the Lord, your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, to the third and fourth generations of those who hate me.”
And in Proverbs 26:2, we read, “The curse causeless does not alight.”
In context, what these scriptures are saying is that hidden iniquity can become a driving force or curse that can be passed from one generation to the next.   We have all seen it; the child of a person who is dealing with a recurring sin like sexual prevision, anger, fear, depression, insanity, or suicide plagued with the very same problem.
Whatever the hidden iniquity, it’s obvious that it can be passed from generation to generation until someone breaks its power.  Jesus died and shed His blood to break the power of every iniquity.  It doesn’t happen automatically, but it can be broken.
If you believe that you are dealing with a generational iniquity, then please take the time to attend one of our Empowering Relationships Seminars.  It’s a safe place to expose and deal with the issues that are driving life in the wrong direction.
